Confidence, skills and a brighter future
Our Skills for Life and Work courses help adults build confidence and develop the essential skills needed to thrive in everyday life and the workplace. From digital know-how to personal development and work readiness, our courses support your journey towards greater independence, wellbeing and opportunity.
- Courses from Entry Level to Level 2
- Free for adults (19+) who haven't previously attained a formal digital qualification
- Opportunity Sheffield employment pathways, these courses can help you progress into work, further training, or volunteering.

Entry requirements
Workshops, Short Courses, and Pre-Entry:
We will have a short chat with you to help you find the right course.
You need to speak and understand basic English to join.
If you need more help with English, we will refer you to an ESOL course first.
Qualifications – Entry 3 and above
You’ll take part in a short informal chat and complete a digital assessment (OneAdvanced) to help us place you on the right course.
These courses are suitable for learners working at Entry 2 and above.
If your results show you are below Entry 2, we’ll offer you a place on a short course to help build your skills. You’ll need a good level of English reading, listening, and understanding to take part.
Course Fees
This course is completely free for adults over 19 years old with no or low digital skills or existing digital qualifications.
Progression
Functional Skills English and Maths, Employability, and Vocational courses from Entry 3 to Level 1.

Where might this course lead you to next?
- You could progress onto a higher level Functional Skills either in digital skills or other functional skills
- You could enrol onto a college course including GCSEs
- You could move onto our employability or Volunteer Passport course, or access a course to develop other employment skills
